Discussion Board 2: Guidance
Week
/ Module 8
VISUAL
ARGUMENT CRITIQUE OVERVIEW:
You have been given
readings to complete the analysis of this visual argument from the Surfrider
Foundation. Be sure to use the correct readings to analyze the different required aspects of the visual argument.
KEYPOINTS
You need to directly refer to the visual argument being made and
its effectiveness throughout your assessment.
You need to use the required readings from this week to defend your
critique of the visual argument from Surfrider.
You need to try to prove your point (thesis) while
assessing how well the visual argument did in making its point: how effective was the visual argument?
You need to use in-text and parenthetical
citations when using content directly from the classroom readings or the
visual argument image.
This whole class stems from argument
development. You will want to always assert your argument, defend it,
refute opposition, and reassert that your viewpoint was the correct one to
follow.
Please remember that for all academic writing, you need to write
in at least the 3-part-layout: introduction, body, and conclusion.
Please review this for future writings: 3-part-system of writing

Visit the LECTURE NOTES posted to the classroom to see what my lecture would have been for this assignment. These lecture notes are important as they will tell you what I would have said if we would have been in a face-to-face classroom environment.
NOTE:
When you integrate source information to support your evaluation of the visual argument found in the surfrider image, you will use in-text citations to lead into the sourced content, and where it is applicable, parenthetical citations.
If you have any questions about this assignment, please post them to the Week 8, Ask the Instructor thread in the Discussion Board forum. |
