Essay 2 Instructions and Checklist
Ethical Argument
ENGL101
You will find a sample of a typical Ethical Argument prompt below.
See this link for additional assistant with Ethical Argument basics: HERE.

Compose a 1,000–1,200-word ethical argument essay from the thesis/outline that you submitted in a prior week.

Please note the word count does not include citations

Furthermore, word count does not include quoted content.
If you wish for source ideas to count towards your word count total, you must first paraphrase or summarize the scholarly content into your own words. However, even with paraphrasing and summarizing, you are still required to post a parenthetical citation at the end of the sentence, prior to the end punctuation.

Ethical Essay Prompt

Write an ethical argument in which you address the question: Is it ethical to utilize fertility clinics and/or sperm banks?”

Reminder from the Readings…
Ethical arguments require 3 things:
·         an ethical standard: such as Christianity
·         controversial topic: such as genetic engineering of humans, and
·         an argument: an assertive declaration of how the ethical standard determines the required ethical viewpoint of the controversial topic: such as do not murder, created in God’s image, and the understanding of original sin.

Drafting and Proofreading Checklist

After an initial draft, work through the revision and editing techniques prescribed in the classroom readings.  Pay close attention to aspects of Standard English guidelines: eliminate all contractions; eliminate questions from the body-paragraphs, stay in 3rd-person-voice throughout the essay, etc.

To Revise, Proofread, and Polish Your Writing:

After an initial revision and revision and editing of the rough draft, read through your paper and check the appropriate boxes on the chart below for completion. If any area of your paper needs additional revision, make sure you correct it before submitting your essay.

Use the Grading Rubric in Blackboard and the proofreading checklist to draft and revise your essay. (You must plan your time wisely so that you have at least a 24-hour period to both revise and edit your paper.)
