Brainstorming Essay 2

FIRST!

You must clearly identify the ethical standard and the ethical principles as to how you will argue the ethics of your topic.  


  • What is your ethical standard that is guiding your ethics on this topic?  

  • Within that ethical standard, what are ethical principles you will use to argue the ethical argument? 

When assigned an ethical argument, you must go through some steps of identification and clarification before you can create your thesis:

1.  What is the issue?  ____

2.  What is the ‘ethical standard’ from which you will argue ethical principles?  (for example Christianity, Americanism, or Science) ____

3.  What ethical principles are adhered to through the ethical standard?  (for example Christianity: TEN COMMANDMENTS—no idols, do not murder, love the Lord 1st. Americanism: The Constitution.  Science: The Hippocratic Oath) ____

4.  What side of the issue will you argue?  ____

5.   What are the three main opposing views to your argument?  ____, ____, and ____

a.   Are the oppositional views valid? 
                                                     i.      If so, you need to revise your argument.
                                                     ii.      If not, then you are ready to begin your outline.
